Cut and Paste: The Art of Collage in the Age of Technology
Wednesday, March 30, 2011 - 7:00pm to 10:00pm
Exhibition Dates:
Mar 30, 2011 to May 16, 2011

Root Division and Heart are pleased to present Cut & Paste, a group exhibition exploring collage. Since its modern advent in the early 20th century, the technique of collage has propagated an art that reflects popular culture. As source materials evolve with the zeitgeist of the time, so too does the output. The artists of Cut & Paste cull imagery from popular culture and then manipulate the traditional cut-out with new technologies including photography, screen-printing, digital manipulation and video. Each work becomes an assemblage of both imagery and process, reinventing the concept of the traditional collage.

Continuing its tradition of exploring the connections between wine and other forms of creative expression, Heart will pair wines to each artwork at the opening reception, with $1 from each pairing sold donated to Root Division.
