Stack and Roll: Work by Mie Hørlyck Mogensen
Spare Change Artist Space
Thursday, April 17, 2014 - 6:00pm to 8:00pm
Exhibition Dates:
Apr 11, 2014 to Jul 4, 2014

Root Division is thrilled to partner with Rhodes & Fletcher LLC to curate Spare Change with the work of our Studio Artists and Affiliates. Current Studio Artist, Mie Hørlyck Mogensen has a history of public art installations that compel viewers to re-evaluate their surroundings. Her sculptural and video based works deal primarily with tools--both real and imagined, functional and nonsensical. For the exhibition at the Spare Change Artist Space Mie has created a new body of work that explores the balance and tension between spending and saving—controlling and letting go. Pastel colored sculptural stacks of oversized round, flat plaster casts inspired by the stacking of coins, will be shown alongside video and audio actual coin stacking. Tense weights and balances explore the relationship between value and weight by bearing the weight of value.
