Root Division presents un•bound•ed, an exhibition of genre-crossing works investigating form, perception, and cognition. Curator-artists Brent Hallard and Don Voisine, have brought together a diverse group artists from six cities across the globe whose work challenges the relationship between perception and preconception in contemporary formal painting, sculpture, and video work.
These works cross the finite boundaries of discipline or media, in many cases subverting art historical traditions of abstraction and non-objective work. A folio featuring signed artist prints and an essay by Joan Waltemath will be available.
Un•bound•ed will be Root Division's fourth exhibition at its interim location on Market Street. Root Division relocated in July 2014 from its ten year home on 17th Street in San Francisco’s Mission District after losing their lease due to rising rental rates. Root Division is excited to partner with neighborhood organizations in their new location, including participation in the Third Thursdays in Yerba Buena artwalk event.
