Special Events Internship

Root Division has many facets and serves a multitude of constituents. We are looking for an individual to assist us in our fundraising efforts to support the organization as a whole. The Special Events Intern will work with Program Staff on a variety of tasks and projects. Spring Interns will assist with our TASTE fundraiser in April, while Fall Interns will assist with our AUCTION fundraiser in October. This is a great opportunity to be involved in the inner workings of a small art non-profit, and work with all programs.

General Qualifications:

  • Positive attitude and interest in learning
  • Works well independently and with a team
  • Good communication skills (written and oral)
  • Familiarity with Mac computers
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Basic administrative skills

Intern Job Description and Tasks:

  • Outreach to businesses and supporters
  • Research funding / fundraising opportunities
  • Mailing list / contacts management
  • Donor database development / management
  • Help setting up / working at events and exhibitions, including 2nd Saturday events
  • Assisting with fundraising events and planning, including working at the event
  • Communicating with donors and sponsors
  • Administrative assistance and file management

Desired Qualifications Specific to this Internship:

  • Excellent written and oral skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Previous admin or development support experience a plus

Desired Availability (10-12 hours / week):

  • 1 - 2 shifts selected from Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays, between 11 am - 6 pm
  • Exhibition opening support (each 2nd Saturday evening / month)
  • Night of the event support (see our calendar for details)
  • Attendance at fundraising committee meetings (1-2 evenings/month)
