Nimah Gobir

Nimah Gobir is an artist and educator based in Oakland, CA. Through paintings and installations, her work teases out both the nuances and shared experiences of being Black. After graduating with a BA in Peace Studies and BFA in Studio Art, Nimah completed a Fulbright ETA scholarship in Kolkata, India where she incorporated arts-based practices into 6th-9th grade classrooms. She received an MEd from Harvard Graduate School of Education, where she focused on using arts and storytelling to create meaningful and equitable learning experiences. In 2017, she was awarded Root Division’s Blau-Gold Studio Teaching fellowship. Currently, she currently works as the Writer/Producer of MindShift at NPR/PBS member station KQED in San Francisco.
