She has taught a variety of arts workshops for people of all ages for about a decade, and participated in public art projects. Leticia earned a BFA in Painting and Drawing at CCA and has continued to expand her use of media. Lately, she enjoys keeping her hands busy with configuring fiber arts projects, tinkering with natural inks & dyes, machine sewing, painting and a bit of digital illustration.
Leticia’s art is driven by a concern and curiosity for our ecology. Her art explores current issues with a cross-over of personal cultural experiences as a Mexidorian (Mexican and Salvadorian) Chicana with Zapotec roots. An ongoing art practice has allowed her to ponder, research, and share conversations regarding pressing topics that affect us collectively. Through the use of a shifting range of materials she hopes to illuminate and ignite pilot light conversations about the relationship between climate change, extractive capitalism, colonization, systemic oppression, intersectionality, and the importance of highlighting indigenous voices.
