Artist Statement

The living vessels I create begin as anatomical maps in which I am thinking about the seen and unseen aspects of the human body. These vessels are seen in convergence with land, the cosmos, and my observations of motherhood. I am constantly zooming in and out of a micro or macrocosmic lense, in turn creating a rhythmic dance between the physical and existential. I frequently depict the body's acts of resistance and creation (menstruation and lactation), I see these bodily acts as being interwoven with the world's ongoing resistance movements; shedding the harmful and unnecessary and giving life to the nurturing roots of humankind.
