New Works 2026

Root Division is proud to present New Works, a biennial exhibition celebrating artists in the Studios Program.

New Works is a survey exhibition celebrating the creative vitality and artistic diversity of Root Division’s Studios Program. Bringing together new and recent work by artists in the program, the exhibition transforms the Main Gallery into a dynamic presentation of the ideas, perspectives, and practices shaping Root Division’s community of artists. Spanning drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, and multimedia approaches, the exhibition highlights the breadth of artistic inquiry emerging from a cohort committed to experimentation, exchange, and collective growth.

At the heart of Root Division’s mission, the Studios Program supports emerging Bay Area artists while expanding public access to the visual arts. Through affordable, below-market studio space offered in exchange for community service, the program creates opportunities for artists to sustain their practices while contributing to a more accessible and connected arts ecosystem. Studio Artists play an active role in this exchange, supporting exhibitions and gallery operations, contributing to public programs, and teaching art classes for youth and adults.

Beyond providing space to create, the program fosters the relationships and resources that sustain artistic growth. Studio Artists gain access to professional development, exhibition opportunities, and a network of peers, curators, collectors, and cultural workers. New Works makes this ecosystem visible, celebrating not only the work being made but also the collaborative relationships, shared resources, and collective investment that enable artists to thrive.
