Sharon Tanenbaum

Board Vice Chair; Governance Committee Chair

Sharon Tanenbaum has more than thirty-five years of executive leadership and consulting experience guiding Bay Area nonprofit arts organizations and private foundations through periods of substantial growth. Prior experience includes serving as executive director of the Artists' Legacy Foundation from 2011 to 2013, as executive director of SF Camerawork from 2004 to 2010, and as director of the Hospitality House Arts Program from 1981 to 1993. She now enjoys working with a wide range of arts organizations with her consulting firm, Sharon Tanenbaum & Associates, focusing on strategic planning, major donor cultivation, capital campaigns, and board development. Sharon's passion for Root Division began in 2014 when she worked as a consultant to plan and manage the organization's capital campaign to help it move to the current facility. Her prior board experience includes serving as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of Headlands Center for the Arts from 2014-2020.
