Call for Artists: Bay Area Digitalists

Venue: 1131 Mission Street

Root Division invites artists working in digital media to submit for an exhibition entitled Bay Area Digitalists, to be presented at Root Division, 1131 Mission St. in November 2015.

Bay Area Digitalists is an exhibition of digital artists whose work is inspired by the deep history and culture of technology in the Bay Area. As conversations about the negative impact of the tech industry on local artists persist, this exhibition aims to highlight the long history of technology in the Bay Area and the incredible influence it has had on artists.

The curator will consider works that represent the particular characteristics of Bay Area tech (entrepreneurship, experimentation, invention, connection, and a DIY sensibility), and explore the very nature of the technologies used and their impact on society, interaction, and daily life.

This call for entries is meant to complete a show that currently includes the work of Scott Kildall, Kadet Kuhne, Tim Roseborough, and Smith|Allen.
