Upcycled Textiles
This class is an introduction to a wide range of textile arts including surface design, fiber sculpture, and weaving. As students learn about textile art processes, they will also form a deeper understanding of the cultural and historical underpinnings of these techniques. Using disposed materials, such as paper, plastic, and fabrics, students will learn hands-on processes such as weaving, plaiting, dyeing, and hand printing. After initial experimentation with a variety of techniques, students are encouraged to push the boundaries of the media and create their own projects.
