Celeste Christie

Celeste Christie is an artist, educator and administrator with a diverse background in theater, performance art, and metalsmithing. She earned her BA in Theater at University of California, Los Angeles with an emphasis in Costume Design and a BFA in Jewelry/Metal Arts from California College of the Arts. As co-founder of the artists' collaborative group Art for a Democratic Society, her work has been featured in exhibitions at Southern Exposure, Kala Art Institute, and Rock Paper Scissors Collective Gallery. She is also Co-Head of Department in Enameling at The Crucible in Oakland, where she teaches Enameling to youth and adults. Celeste enjoys making art accessible to wide audiences, and is thrilled to contribute her administrative experience to the programs at Root Division to help make that possible.
