Create your own non-fiction comic! This 4-session virtual course encourages investigation of the relationships between images, text, personal narratives, and the comic book as an art object. Students will create two mini comics, complete several writing and drawing exercises, and develop a story and outline for one non-fiction comic. Group critiques, analysis of narrative structures, slideshows of contemporary comics artists' work, and exercises in juxtaposing imagery will give students a deeper understanding of how to use their drawings to communicate stories from their lives. A materials list will be provided upon registration, supplies must be purchased independently. Please note: this class will take place virtually over zoom.
*Sections A, B, and C are the same level and general course content. They occur on different dates and may have different instructors.
