Bio
Alexis is an artist and educator working in San Francisco. Her studio practice centers abstract explorations of beauty and precarity via human and nature collaborations and antagonisms. This could look like plant growth, social patterning in public spaces, or the mapping of built environments. Alexis has shown work at the Children’s Discovery Museum of San José, Viridian Artists, Superfine Art Fair, the Palo Alto Art Center, The LINE San Francisco, and the RISD Museum, among others. Alexis has a BA from Dartmouth College and an MFA from Rhode Island School of Design and was the 2021-22 Blau Gold Teaching Fellow at Root Division.
Her studio practice centers on process-based works, using mixed media on paper to explore visual schemata, maps, modulations, architectures and patterns. Alexis’ current work includes recycling found ephemera, large scale collaging, and drawing with found stencils and forms.
