Audrey Herrera is an artist based out of San Francisco with a focus on bodies painted in oil on canvas and mixed with textiles.
Artist Statement
In the studio, I am trying to explore my relationship with beauty, sexuality, and the body. The subject matter I like to explore is bodies in spaces of sacred sexuality and expression. When I show my work to fem and queer people I can open up conversations about the baggage we carry under the confines of capitalism and gender constructs, as well as how this affects our expression of sexuality and, further, creativity. My work shows figures seeking to escape those confines, and retreating to their sacred spaces of solitude.
