Evie Harra is a synesthete who lives in overwhelming color. She paints cityscapes and urban spaces reflecting her colorful feelings about the spaces we occupy everyday, from Bart station exits to Muni rides. This action of painting her synesthetic perceptions also acts as a coping mechanism, promoting emotional regulation through color expression. She needs to ‘get out her colors’ as a version of color therapy. Evie’s art practice establishes fruitful connections with non-neurodivergent folks to spread awareness for neurodivergence and synesthesia.
