Sammy Gripe is a sculptor, musician, art educator, and floral designer from the Bay Area, currently based out of San Francisco. Her work explores the connection between objects and emotion, drawing on ceramics, botanicals, and soft sculpture to create pieces that feel like quiet companions. She has studied at The University of Oregon, Beaux Arts de Paris, and the San Francisco Art Institute. Sammy has exhibited with galleries such as Good Mother Studio, 5 Olive Gallery, and 120710 Art Gallery & Studios, among others.
I am interested in interpersonal relationships, how these relationships directly affect our quality of life, and the human desire for comfort and sense of belonging. Combining an inclination for vulnerability and human connection with my love for botanicals, I play with the essence of my loved ones and the visual representations that they inspire.
