Bio
Sammy Gripe is a sculptor, musician, art educator, and floral designer from the Bay Area, currently based out of San Francisco. Experimenting with ceramics, textiles, and plaster, she creates whimsical sculptures meant to fill a room the same way people do. In efforts to navigate anxiety and the act of grounding oneself, each sculpture serves as a friend when we are left only with the objects that surround us.
I am interested in interpersonal relationships, how these relationships directly affect our quality of life, and the human desire for comfort and sense of belonging. Combining an inclination for vulnerability and human connection with my love for botanicals, I play with the essence of my loved ones and the visual representations that they inspire.
