Shrey Purohit (b. 1997, India) is a San Francisco-based painter, curator, and educator. His cityscape paintings have been exhibited in galleries, civic and alternative spaces including SF City Hall, SOMArts, 13 Monroe Street (NYC), and The Wall Box Gallery. Beyond painting he also curates with ArtSpan and Ingleside Gallery, creating community-centered exhibitions that uplift emerging artists.
Working primarily in acrylic, I paint everyday urban scenes—fog, windows, street corners—to hold onto fleeting beauty. Light, atmosphere, and memory guide my compositions, blending realism with a sense of quiet reverence. Drawing influences from plein air traditions, cinematic framing, and the layered histories of city life. I seek to reveal the emotional weight of places through careful attention to what’s often overlooked. Transforming everyday city scenes into enchanting visual narratives of nostalgia, revealing the magic and hope in painting the mundane.
