Wally A. Corona is a San Francisco based visual artist of Mexican descent. His art practice aims to augment the learning experience through the arts and expand the creative act via performance and collaboration. Wally A. Corona’s art is informed by experience, Marxist ideology, and absurdist literature. Aesthetically, he is influenced by comic books, graffiti, and punk culture. Through this lense, Corona employs found objects and drawing to explore themes of cultural identities, class struggle, and moral injury.
"Class solidarity is the guiding principle of my practice. I opt for, low end drawing materials (pencils, sharpies, ballpoint pens, etc.) on found objects, because these materials are readily available to anyone regardless of income or status. I use imagery from daily life, often captured during a commute to and from work. These images, combined with hours of meticulous labor, create visual allegories for the challenges of modern urban life."
