Collage + Poetry Workshop: Surrealism and Ekphrasis Poetry

This 3-hour in-person workshop is an introductory course on collage and poetry. Students will create visual poems through a series of surrealist games and linguistic strategies. We will generate new meanings from found images and text by incorporating elements of chance, play, and surprise while exploring a variety of art-making materials, including acrylic paint, pastels, ink, and paper. Participants will dive into the fantastical through automatic drawing and writing techniques as well as fragmentation.
