Graphic Novels & Nonfiction Stories
Comics have been taken more seriously as an art form in recent years, from nonfiction graphic novels to emojis. Images are important for conveying a story or experience, and comics are the perfect vehicle for starting a conversation about difficult to address topics or under-represented narratives. This class offers an exploration of drawing for those with an interest in nonfiction comics. Learn to set your life into comic form using storyboards and narrative illustration. We will perform drawing exercises, practice techniques in pen and ink, sketch, and use watercolor to create comics and encourage students to develop a drawing practice that is lifelong. All levels of drawing welcome.
