Intertidal Field Trip

Venue: Ferry Building

Intertidal Field Trip

Go off-site with RESONATE Artist and Educator Kate Stirr to Sausalito in a field trip to the tide pools to learn about the intertidal zone, survival strategies of its inhabitants, and parallel strategies of artists’ survival.

Kate will be joined by Biologist and Educator, Karen Kalumuck, PhD., who will provide her insight and expertise as the group takes a closer look at the Intertidal Zone along Sausalito's warf. Join Kate & Karen for an afternoon of inquiry and exploration; use hand lenses and pocket microscopes to get an intimate peek at the astounding creatures of our seashore, and record notes, drawings, and observations in your Field Guide to Adaptive Seashore Creatures and Artists of the San Francisco Bay Area.

We will meet at the Ferry Building in San Francisco at 3:00pm to catch the 3:25pm ferry to Sausalito. From there, we will walk 10 minutes South along the Sausalito shoreline to an exposed rocky outcropping, where we will explore marine life. Stick around for ice cream or drinks on the waterfront before catching the Ferry back to SF!
