Root Division presents Introductions 2014, the eighth iteration of our annual juried exhibition. The Introductions exhibition showcases the talent of twelve emerging artists in the San Francisco Bay Area offering exposure to the art community and beyond through public reception, and catalogue documentation.
Through a highly competitive review process this year's jurors -- Kevin B. Chen, Jack Fischer, and Maysoun Wazwaz-- selected twelve finalists from over 135 submissions based on the conceptual and formal strength of the work. The resulting exhibition includes diverse range of media and subject matter featuring painting, drawing, sculpture, video, photography, and more.
The exhibition has become one of they keystones of Root Division’s exhibition programming offering exposure to emerging artists and a chance for the public to view cutting edge local art production in the Bay Area.
Introductions 2014 will be Root Division's second exhibition at its “pop-up” location on Market Street. Root Division relocated in July 2014 from its ten year home on 17th Francisco’s Mission District after losing their lease due to rising rental rates. Root Division is excited to partner with neighborhood organizations in their new location, including participation in the Third Thursdays in Yerba Buena artwalk event.
