Hyper Vigilant Dreaming

Hyper Vigilant Dreaming
Curated by Kristina Singleton
The Frank Ratchye Project Space is pleased to present Hyper Vigilant Dreaming, a solo exhibition by Root Division Studio Artist Sammy Gripe.
Entering the realm of dreamscapes, Hyper Vigilant Dreaming explores the cognitive, spiritual and emotional inner ecosystems within. Drawing specifically on her involuntary experiences of lucid dreaming, artist Sammy Gripe uses these experiences to help dissolve emotions of fear and anxiety. Her ability to take control in a dream enables the waking mind and the dreaming mind to co-exist, finding their way to one another in the dreamscape.
Through a series of sculptural dream sketches, fearful energy derived from lucid dreaming is transformed into comforting imagery. Sculpture for Gripe reflects methods of self preservation and healing. In this context, the dreamscape allows for empowerment and reflection in the waking life.
