We started 2014 at a highpoint, hosting our 100th 2nd Saturday event, but the challenges of a rapidly inflating real estate market took everything for a turn. Faced with rental rates that would triple, Root Division was displaced from its 10-year home in July 2014. The organization spent 14 months in an interim space on Market Street, maintaining all annual programming–12 monthly exhibitions, two ticketed fundraisers, and three sessions of Adult Education offerings, as well as training and placing over 40 artist-teacher volunteers in five after school partner programs– all while searching for an affordable long-term home.
