Thanks to our ambitious team, passionate board, dedicated supporters, and a magnanimous landlord, Root Division secured a long-term lease at our current location in the heart of San Francisco’s Mid-Market/ SOMA neighborhood. After renovating the 13,400 sf stand-alone building, we moved into our new bigger, better, brighter home in September 2015. The organization raised over $1.21 million towards a capital campaign goal, and in Summer 2016, renovated the lower level to add more artist studios, a digital lab and fabrication shop. The new space provides continued street-level storefront presence, increased gallery and classroom space, and 22 subsidized studios for emerging artists.
