See requirements below before applying:

  • Artists are required to attend a tour of our studios prior to submitting an application.
  • Studio tours only happen on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 2pm – 6 pm and take about 30 min.
  • After the tour, if you still wish to apply you can do so via SlideRoom and the Artist Selection Committee will review submissions. You’ll be notified if selected for an interview. Please DO NOT reach out about your application status.

Root Division is a visual arts nonprofit that connects creativity and community through a dynamic ecosystem of arts education, exhibitions, and studios. Through our Studios Program, we offer artists discounted studio space and valuable professional development opportunities in exchange for service to the organization.

Our required monthly artist meetings already count toward the 8-hour commitment, so artists only need to complete an additional 6.5 hours outside of those meetings. Artists contribute these hours in support of Root Division’s mission and can engage with the community in any or all of the following areas:

  • Teaching in our adult education program and supporting education administration
  • Providing curatorial and installation support for our Exhibitions & Events program
  • Assisting with marketing, promotion, fundraising, design, and other areas of arts administration
  • Helping maintain and organize the woodshop

Key highlights of our facility and unique organization include:

  • Network of peers, curators, gallerists and more!
  • Excellent professional and creative development opportunities
  • Individual and shared studio spaces from 100 – 230 square feet
  • 24-hour studio access (not live/work)
  • 2000 sq. ft. common space and gallery
  • Shared woodshop and digital lab
  • Free Wi-Fi access, shared kitchen, and bathrooms
