Still Life is an exhibition that embraces and challenges the wide ranging art historical and contemporary genre of the same name. Curator, Jennie Lennick, has centered this exhibition around works that reference the still life conceptually and formally while concurrently addressing the distinction between high and low art. Featured works include skewed traditional Vanitas works, tableaux and featuring often grotesque contemporary food and ephemera, as well as unapologetically handmade objects in a genre often associated with hyper-realism.

Still Life is free, open to the public, and includes a Creative Station [3] - all ages art activities hosted in our classroom during the 2nd Saturday opening reception.

Still Life is presented in conjunction with Root Division’s annual culinary fundraiser, TASTE [4], an evening of artfully inspired food and drink made onsite. Some of our favorite contemporary alchemists--the chef, the baker, the barista and the mixologist will be conjuring up colorful experiments and irresistible concoctions in the gallery, illuminating the magical transformations that occur both in the studio and in the kitchen. For tickets visit: rootdivision.org/taste-2015 [4].
