Anisa Esmail, a versatile artist, culture writer, and fashion designer, currently serves as a studio and teaching artist at Root Division. She will soon transition into Marketing Coordinator, leveraging her experience from leading PR initiatives at de Young and Legion of Honor. She recently supported PR efforts for exhibitions "The de Young Open 2023", "Lee Mingwei: Rituals of Care," and the major education fundraiser The de Youngsters Day Out 2024, which doubled the money raised for the Equity School Partnership Program in the two years she has served as education PR lead. She is a first-generation South Asian, Iranian, and Egyptian American, and the paintings she creates discuss her cultural identity. With a Bachelor's degree from San Francisco State University and a background in painting at the San Francisco Art Institute, she has exhibited her work at Southern Exposure, Minnesota Street Projects, and Root Division, demonstrating her profound impact on the contemporary art scene. Anisa is passionate about uplifting the local art ecosystem through cultural equity and community representation.
