Renée is an artist, writer, gardener and arts administrator who has worked in higher education, artist run galleries and nonprofits throughout her career. She is passionate about storytelling, supporting artists, and caring for their practices. Before joining Root Division she acted as a Studio Manager in the New Genres Department at the San Francisco Art Institute, a Gallery Manager at South Seattle Community College, in Communications at Creativity Explored and an apprentice on various farms and landscape restoration projects throughout the Bay Area. She has a BFA from the University of Florida and an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in New Genres, where she studied video art, installation and performance. Outside of work she spends lots of time hiking, tending to a mini nursery in her backyard, and making art as a proxy for better understanding geology, plants, and the places she calls home.
