Tamara is a Mexican artist and educator with a background in K-12 classroom teaching & art education consultation in California & Connecticut. She also has experience with facilitation & training at museums such as the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York & the Children’s Creativity Museum, San Francisco. She earned her MA in K-12 Art Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and her B.F.A in Sculpture from California College of the Arts. Tamara’s ideals are deeply rooted in the importance of teaching and being a resource to immigrant and marginalized voices, and to help guide their own pathways with art education. Tamara’s multicultural background and experience have aided her in engaging with others and offering ideas for her work with Root Division that come from different perspectives while serving as an active participant and listener to the arts community and beyond.
