Introduction to Large Scale Drawing
This class will explore methods for moving from a small-scale to a large-scale drawing practice. Students will be working on large rolls of paper in order to activate the use of the whole body in the act of drawing rather than just the hands and wrists. Rather than focusing on one or two longer drawings, students will instead complete several dozen quick drawings to loosen up the body and train the brain to work on a larger scale. Areas of study will include gesture drawing, blind contour drawing, and modified contour drawing. Students will walk away from this class with the skills and confidence to make large, bold drawings.
