Did you grow up with a love for Calvin and Hobbes? Superman? The Watchmen? Fun Home? In the age of the emoji, we can see what comic artists have known for decades: Pictures and text can exist richly alongside each other. In this course, we will work on both our drawing and writing skills, as students create their own comics and short graphic stories. We will also address the principles of storytelling, text versus image, and the production and distribution of printed and online comics and graphic novels.
