Tactile Drawing
Tactile drawing is a continuing basic drawing class emphasizing texture and surface. No previous drawing experience is required. We will be learning to make marks through the manipulation of the surface using materials such as graphite powder, soldering irons, tape, and thread. An example of one of the techniques we will be covering in this course is image transfers using frottage. The instructor will begin each class with a demonstration on material usage and have dedicated class time for you to familiarize yourself with these methods and for experimentation. Through our assignments we will touch upon the formal elements of art: value, space, line, form and composition. The objective for this course is to promote appreciation and enthusiasm for the drawing process and, most importantly, to provide more tools that can serve to further your explorations in art.
