In our Youth Education Program, we recruit, train, and place Root Division Studio Artists, volunteers and interns to teach free art classes in one of our five after-school partner programs, creating a link between practicing artists and the schools community. Root Division currently provides art classes and workshops at language-immersion schools -- Cesar Chavez Elementary, Buena Vista Elementary, Horace Mann Middle School, Filipino Education Center/Bessie Carmichael Elementary, Bessie Carmichael Middle School -- Larkin Street Youth Services, Community Housing Partnership, and Spanish Newcomer School, Mission Education Center. All of our programs serve a diverse group of students, most of which attend San Francisco Unified School District schools. See what's happening in our classroom!

Root Division's Adult Education Program offers highly innovative and affordable art classes. Root Division's Studio Artists, as well as other Bay Area professional artists, guide students through a variety of art processes, and it all happens in a friendly and engaging environment. The classes and workshops are the perfect length for the busy and non-committal, while allowing enough time for students to leave with a handmade masterpiece and sense of accomplishment.

Most classes are geared to adults and teens over age 16, but call or email to inquire about offerings for younger students. We also offer Professional Development Workshops that provide artists support and direction in composing portfolios, building websites, and developing practical business skills.

Root Division provides free all ages art activities in our classroom during opening receptions at our Second Saturday Exhibitions. We offer activities that relate to exhibition themes or are inspired by an artwork on view. Check the Calendar for the next event
